The gSOAP toolkit for SOAP/XML Web Services

The gSOAP tools are designed to simplify the development and deployment of SOAP/XML Web services applications in C and C++. The gSOAP compiler automatically maps native and user-defined C/C++ data types to XML data types and vice-versa. As a result, full SOAP/XML Web Services interoperability is achieved with a simple API relieving the user from the burden of SOAP details, thus enabling him or her to concentrate on the application-essential logic.

Highlights

Easy to use with automatic SOAP/XML-to-C/C++ mappings, platform independent, very fast and efficient with streaming SOAP/XML/DIME/MIME/MTOM, support for legacy C/C++ applications, most complete because all SOAP 1.1/1.2 and WSDL 1.1 features are supported (including polymorphism and multi-dimensional sparse arrays), and proven interoperability with other SOAP toolkits. The toolkit can be conveniently integrated in an IDE. The package includes numerous examples. MSVC++ 6.0 project examples are also included.

History

gSOAP was introduced in the Web service arena in October 2001 as an open source project on SourceForge. The toolkit was a success and companies have used it to develop award-winning products and other toolkits such as IBM's WSTKMD. gSOAP has an extensive list of features and an active user mailinglist is maintained by Yahoo groups.
